Does Countryside have a good Basketball Court?
Countryside (the school) has two basketball courts outdoors, one regular and one with an 8 ft rim. I will primarily talk about the regular court, but I'm going to include the smaller court in this blog. By going to Countryside you have access to both courts, so it wouldn't make sense to separate reviews of them.
Unfortunately, this won't be a good review. The countryside basketball court could be way better. It isn't very well kept, so it is in bad shape. The main court has two hoops on opposite sides. On one side, the rim has no net. The net is actually kind of important, both for seeing if you made a shot and for helping make It easier to get the ball back after a make. The ground seems somewhat tilted, other than being uneven The ground also has a lot many cracks ranging from thin to wide. These cracks can make it quite difficult to dribble.
I definitely do not recommend playing at Countryside after it has rained. The uneven ground created puddles where the water collects. On the hoop that has a net, the ground creates a puddle directly underneath the net. Every time you make a shot the ball will hit the water splashing you.
In this photo, you can see the regular court on the back side of the school, with the 8ft rim on the left side. This 8 ft rim can be fairly enjoyable for a time. It's short enough that most people can dunk on it. This is still a gimmick. While it is fun for a while, dunking is really the only thing the 8 ft rim is good for. It can quickly wear out, and as I've been talking about, the regular court won't lead to much more fun.
Ranking:
The Countryside outdoor basketball court immediately goes to the bottom of my ranking. You can go to it for the 8 ft rim, but that's it.
